Bernhard Welz

Bernhard Welz is a voluntary professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, SC, Brazil. He received his PhD from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in 1966, worked at Bodenseewerk Perkin-Elmer, Überlingen, Germany, for 32 years in different positions, the last 16 years as Director of Applied Research, and also as Guest Professor at the University of Konstanz, Germany. In 1999 he moved to Brazil as Visiting Professor at UFSC and at the Federal University of Bahia. In 1988 he received the Jana Marcus Marci Medal from the Czechoslovak Spectroscopic Society and in 2006 the Clemens Winkler Medal from the German Chemical Society. Since 2009 he is Researcher 1A of the Brazilian Science Foundation (CNPq). Bernhard has organized or co-organized 25 international conferences, including the CSIXXXVII in 2012 in Brazil. He has more than 270 publications in international journals and more than 400 Published Abstracts of Contributions at Conferences. He wrote 9 Books and 40 Book Chapters and has an H-index of 52.
